This bit is very similar to a full cheek snaffle. The narrow arms extending above and below the rings prevent the mouthpiece from sliding through the horse’s mouth and help to reinforce the turning aid. The loose rings discourage fixing and leaning on the forehand. The single-jointed mouthpiece creates a nutcracker action that applies pressure to the tongue, the bars of the mouth and the horse’s palate.
